SolarEdge system produces less than expected or optimizers stop reporting
Your SolarEdge system makes less power than expected, or some optimizers stop reporting, while the inverter looks normal. This page covers what the lights and codes mean, what to check first, and the causes behind it.
What the lights mean
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Green status light on the inverter | The inverter is running, but some panels can still be producing nothing. A green light does not show that every panel works. |
| Solid green and solid blue lights | The inverter is producing normally and is connected to SolarEdge monitoring. |
Error codes that go with this problem
| Code | What it means |
|---|---|
| 41 of 42 panels found (in the app) | One optimizer is not detected or not communicating after pairing. |
| No communication with this optimizer | An alert on an optimizer whose panels show near-zero production. |
What to check first
- Rule out shade first. In the SolarEdge monitoring platform open Layout, then Show Playback. In the weekly view, compare several sunny days at the same time of day. A dip that repeats at the same time each day is shade.
- In the monitoring portal, look for a panel that reads about half of what the others do in the same sun, or a panel that is missing from the app.
- If your site has more than one SolarEdge inverter, check that the monitoring account shows all of them.
Safety. The system must be switched off before anyone works on the panels, optimizers or their wiring.
