SolarEdge inverter shows Night Mode in daylight
Your SolarEdge inverter screen says Night Mode during the day and the system is not producing. This page covers what the lights and codes mean, what to check first, and the causes behind it.
What the lights mean
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Flashing green and flashing blue | AC is connected but the inverter is not producing, and its connection to monitoring comes and goes. |
| Solid green and solid blue | Producing normally and connected to monitoring. |
Error codes that go with this problem
| Code | What it means |
|---|---|
| Night Mode (inverter screen) | The inverter sees less than six volts DC from the optimizers. At night that is normal. In daylight, something is keeping the DC from reaching the inverter. |
What to check first
- Check that the DC disconnect, and every other disconnect, is switched on. If one is off, switch it back on. This often happens when an electrician or roofer worked on the system the day before.
- Check for snow on the roof or shade on the panels.
- Call your installer if every disconnect is on and the panels are clear but the screen still says Night Mode in daylight.
Safety. Before anyone works on the strings, the system has to be switched off and allowed to bleed down: inverter switch off, DC disconnect off, batteries off and AC breakers off.
