SolarEdge backup panel fails the backup test or inspection
A SolarEdge backup panel fails its backup test, losing power as soon as one circuit is switched on, or an inspection finds a neutral wiring fault in it. This page covers what to check first and the causes behind it.
What to check first
- If the backup power went out during a test, note which circuit had just been switched on and tell your installer.
- Find out whether your system backs up the whole home or only part of it, since the backup wiring differs between the two.
- If equipment, plumbing or fixtures ever become electrified, or a breaker fails to trip on a fault, call your installer. The wiring fix SolarEdge describes is installer work.
Safety. SolarEdge warns that some backup panel wiring faults can stop a breaker tripping on a fault and leave equipment, plumbing or fixtures electrified, and calls a multi-wire circuit split between the backup and main panels dangerous.
