Generac PWRcell system has never worked properly since installation

The PWRcell system has never worked properly since it was installed, even after major parts were replaced and Generac technicians came out. This page covers what the inverter lights mean, what to check first, and the cause behind it.

What the lights mean

What you seeWhat it means
Inverter status light redThe inverter is overloaded, or a serious fault has been found. Someone likely has to step in before it runs again.
REbus status light redA serious fault has been found on a device or on the REbus wiring.
REbus status light yellowOne or more devices are disabled, or no devices are detected.

What to check first

  1. Write down which parts have been replaced so far, and any new errors that started after a repair, such as ground fault or PV lockout errors.
  2. Look at the inverter status light and the REbus status light and note their colors.
  3. If parts have been replaced and the system still doesn't work, contact Generac and ask for an engineer to look at the whole system on site.
