Enphase system won't finish commissioning in the Installer App
Commissioning an Enphase system in the Installer App stops before it finishes: a CT reading is wrong, a device won't provision or isn't detected, or the app shows an error. This page covers what the lights and codes mean, what to check first, and the causes behind it.
What the lights mean
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| IQ Gateway LEDs cascading from one side to the other, or all flashing green one after another | A software update is in progress. The update and the reboots after it take about 20 to 30 minutes in all. |
| All IQ Gateway LEDs flashing red together | The gateway is starting up. |
| IQ Gateway LEDs flash red, go solid briefly, then flash red again, over and over | The gateway keeps rebooting. This pattern points to a wiring problem with the gateway's power supply. |
| IQ Gateway LEDs solid red and not flashing | Don't power cycle or reboot the gateway. Contact Enphase support directly. |
| IQ Gateway device communications LED solid red | At least one device is not communicating with the gateway. |
| Device communications LED solid amber on an older IQ Envoy | Start-up is complete but no microinverters have been detected yet. |
| IQ Battery LED flashing blue or flashing green | The battery is detected on the network but not yet commissioned. |
| Red in the small window on a battery DC connector | The connector is not fully connected. A fully seated connector shows white. |
Error codes that go with this problem
| Code | What it means |
|---|---|
| 24-volt control header error | Shown in the installer app during commissioning when a battery's DC connectors are not fully seated, the battery is not switched on, or a control header or the control cable is not right. |
| Phase validation error on an IQ Battery 10C | The two sub-units of an IQ Battery 10C were wired L1 to L1 and L2 to L2 instead of with the required phase swap. The app blocks commissioning until it is corrected. |
| Phase rotation error | On a three-phase site the system checks the order of the phases to protect three-phase equipment. A rotation error stops commissioning, even when every phase colour looks right. |
| Waiting for acknowledgement that never ends | Provisioning of the batteries or the System Controller never completes. |
What to check first
- Look at the gateway's LEDs. If they cascade from one side to the other, a software update is running. Allow 20 to 30 minutes for it and the reboots after it before treating it as a fault.
- If the gateway's LEDs are solid red and not flashing, don't switch it off or restart it. Contact Enphase support directly.
- If your installer updates the gateway's software from the Installer App, ask them to keep the phone near the gateway for the whole update, up to 30 minutes. Moving away can cause errors that mean retrying the update.
- If provisioning a battery or System Controller ends in an error, ask the installer to switch the gateway's breaker off, wait one minute, switch it back on, allow about two minutes for it to restart, and run provisioning again.
- When commissioning is complete, the four LEDs on the Envoy all show green.
- A 24-volt control header error, a phase validation error or a phase rotation error in the app needs the installer to find and correct the problem on site before commissioning can finish.
