Enphase microinverters not reporting or not producing
One, some or all of your Enphase microinverters show as not reporting in the app, or produce nothing. This page covers what the gateway lights and the app messages mean, what to check first, and the causes behind it.
What the lights mean
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Gateway device communications LED solid red (IQ Gateway) | At least one device is not communicating with the gateway. |
| Gateway power production LED solid red (IQ Gateway) | At least one microinverter is not producing. |
| Gateway device communications LED off (IQ Gateway) | Devices are not communicating because of low light or nighttime. |
| Device communications LED solid amber (IQ Envoy) | The Envoy has finished starting up but has not detected any microinverters yet. |
| Gateway inside the combiner box: far-left LED not green, two middle LEDs green | The microinverters are producing and reporting. The system is most likely just not connected to Wi-Fi. |
| Gateway LEDs flashing green one after another, or cascading from one side to the other (IQ Gateway) | A software update is in progress. The update and the restarts after it take about 20 to 30 minutes. |
| Red LED on a microinverter, under the panel | A red LED has been read as the unit making DC power from its panel but not getting AC power. A solid red LED has also been read as a ground-fault detection interrupt (GFDI). |
| Microinverter status LED blinks green six times | Normal operation, seen about five minutes after DC power is applied. |
Error codes that go with this problem
| Code | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not reporting or Production Issue on a panel, shown as a solid black panel tile | That panel's microinverter is not communicating with the gateway, so the app has no data for it. |
| Micro inverter not reporting (Enlighten Manager) | The gateway is not hearing from the microinverters over the home's power wiring. It is not an internet problem. |
| Red lightning icon on the Envoy's web page | One or more microinverters are not reporting. |
| All microinverters not reporting and no power is produced | Every microinverter has stopped reporting and the system produces nothing. It has been seen after grid power flickered on a system with a System Controller. |
| Microinverter not reporting on an IQ Battery 5P | One of the six microinverters inside an IQ Battery 5P has stopped reporting to the battery. Enphase detects this automatically and tries to recover it. |
| System Controller PV breaker open | The solar (PV) breaker inside the IQ System Controller is open. |
What to check first
- Open the app's array view and note which panels are not reporting: one or two scattered panels, a whole group of neighbouring panels, or every panel. Tell your installer what you see.
- Look at the breakers for the solar system. If one is tripped, tell your installer or Enphase support. A breaker that trips again within minutes of each reset needs a technician.
- On IQ8 microinverters: if the power to the solar was switched off and back on in the middle of the day and it has produced nothing since, look again the next morning. Tell your installer whether it came back once the sun was up.
- If your system was switched on in the last few days and the app has stopped updating, call Enphase support. They have walked an owner through a full system restart that brought reporting back.
- If you have an IQ Battery 5P, ask your installer whether the Installer Portal shows a microinverter not reporting error for it. Enphase detects that error automatically and tries to bring it back without a support call.
- Call your installer if a whole group of panels or every panel stops reporting, if a breaker is tripped or keeps tripping, or if panels stay not reporting.
Safety. Do not switch the PV breaker inside an IQ System Controller off by hand while the system is producing. Doing that risks damaging the System Controller.
