Enphase IQ Gateway LEDs stuck red

The lights on the Enphase IQ Gateway stay red, solid or flashing, instead of finishing their boot. This page covers what the red light patterns mean, what to check first, and the causes behind it.

What the lights mean

What you seeWhat it means
All four gateway lights flashing red together for about a minute after power-upThe gateway is booting up. This is normal.
Gateway lights solid red, not flashingDon't switch the gateway off and on or reboot it. Contact Enphase support directly.
Gateway lights flash red, go solid briefly, then flash red again, over and overThe gateway keeps rebooting. This pattern points to a wiring problem with the gateway's power supply, so its AC voltages are checked first.
Gateway lights flashing red without a pause, long after the one-minute bootThe gateway has not settled. If a power cycle doesn't settle it and its AC voltages are right, contact Enphase support.
Gateway lights cascading from one side to the other, or flashing green in sequenceA software update is in progress. The update and the reboots after it take about 20 to 30 minutes.
Only the network communications light solid redThe gateway is connected to the local network only and is not reaching Enphase.
Only the device communications light solid redAt least one device is not communicating with the gateway.
Only the power production light solid redAt least one microinverter is not producing.

What to check first

  1. Look at the gateway's lights and note how long they stay red after power comes back. During a normal boot all four flash red for about a minute.
  2. If the gateway's lights cascade from one side to the other, a software update is running. Leave it 20 to 30 minutes before treating it as a fault.
  3. If the gateway's lights are solid red and not flashing, don't switch the gateway off and on or reboot it. Contact Enphase support directly.
  4. If all the lights are stuck flashing red, switching power off and on at the solar emergency disconnect, not just at the gateway's own breaker, has brought the gateway back.
  5. Check whether your utility meter still shows the system producing while the app shows it disconnected. Tell your installer what you see.
  6. If the lights still stay red well past the one-minute boot after power comes back, call your installer or Enphase support.
