Enphase IQ Combiner lugs or breakers show heat damage

Lugs or breakers in an Enphase IQ Combiner 6C run hot, and the system may misbehave, for example by not running correctly in off-grid mode. This page covers what to check first and the causes behind it.

What to check first

  1. Ask your installer to check whether the system runs correctly in off-grid mode. A system that misbehaves there is a reason for them to check the combiner's connections with a thermal camera.
  2. Ask your installer to do a thermal-imaging pass over the combiner and battery terminations to find any lug or breaker running hot.
Safety. Loose connections in the combiner can cause thermal events. Leave any work inside the combiner to your installer.
