EG4 inverter ignores its settings, or they change back on their own

Your EG4 inverter ignores a setting or schedule, or a setting changes back on its own. This page covers what the codes mean, what to check first, and the causes behind it.

Error codes that go with this problem

CodeWhat it means
EPS fault, switching loads to gridThe inverter keeps faulting on EPS and moving the loads to grid. It was traced to the discharge limit reset to 140 A and the AC-first schedule wiped after a Lithium Type change.
Operation failed, error code: 3 (6000XP)Pressing Set on the 6000XP's grid-charge start SOC and target SOC fails with this message. No fix is known.
Timeout (FlexBOSS21)A recurring notice while saving settings such as time and date. The settings show success, then revert about 20 minutes later. The cause is unknown.

What to check first

  1. After using Start Quick Charge, check that your schedules are still turned on. If they were switched off and a one-hour entry was added, turn them back on and delete that entry by hand.
  2. If Start Quick Charge does nothing, check whether a Peak Shaving block is scheduled for that time. Quick Charge won't start until Peak Shaving is turned off.
  3. Check the inverter's clock. If it is an hour off, or the DST setting keeps switching back, set the time zone by hand to a fixed GMT offset. The right time showed after about 24 hours.
  4. On an 18kPV, log in to the web monitoring portal and look at Battery Backup Mode. It does not show on the control panel or the phone app.
  5. After a full power-off, or after changing Lithium Type, check your settings again, such as the discharge current, the AC-first schedule and the charge current.
  6. If a setting still won't hold or isn't followed, it needs a technician or EG4 support. EG4 support turned on Battery Backup mode remotely for an owner who couldn't reach the setting.
