EG4 neutral-ground bond missing or doubled

Your EG4 system has no neutral-ground bond, or more than one, found with a meter rather than a fault code. This page covers what to check first and the causes behind it.

What to check first

  1. On a 6000EX or 6500EX in a fixed install, find out whether EG4's new firmware was loaded. It leaves the neutral-ground bond setting disabled.
  2. Note how many inverters run together, and whether a generator is connected without a Chargeverter. Both affect where the bond should be.
  3. The bond is checked with a meter, neutral to ground with the inverter in standby and never under load, so this needs a technician.
Safety. On paralleled inverters, current on the ground conductor and a voltage difference between the inverter cases is a shock hazard.
