EG4 app or display shows wrong power, consumption or status readings
The EG4 app, web monitor or inverter screen shows power, consumption or status numbers that look wrong, sometimes while the system itself runs fine. This page covers what the lights and codes mean, what to check first, and the causes behind it.
What the lights mean
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Cloud light on the 6000XP Wi-Fi dongle solid or blinking | Meant to show the cloud connection, but unreliable: it showed connected while the dongle was not registered. |
| Wi-Fi light on the dongle solid | The dongle says it has joined the local network. It stayed solid while support said the dongle was not actually reaching the cloud. |
| Fault and warning light after a second inverter is added to a GridBOSS system | Nothing is broken. The inverters see each other but have not synced, so nothing outputs until their parallel and GridBOSS settings are made. |
Error codes that go with this problem
| Code | What it means |
|---|---|
| W030: Grid Boss CAN Loss | Parallel communication lost between a FlexBOSS and its GridBOSS. |
| Warning 18 (W018) | AC frequency out of range: after adjusting to the grid frequency, the AC input frequency is out of range. |
| W016: No AC Connection | The grid or AC connection was lost. |
| Operation failed, error code: 3 (EG4 app) | A general operation-failed message in the app, seen when turning on Grid Sell Back on paralleled 18kPVs and when turning on Generator Remote Turn On on a GridBOSS. |
What to check first
- Compare what the inverter or battery's own screen shows, such as the time and charge level, with the desktop web monitor and the phone app. Note which one disagrees.
- Use the desktop web monitor and force it to refresh. If the number then jumps to match the battery's own screen, the earlier reading was stale. The phone app has lagged the battery's own reading by 2%.
- Note whether the readings went wrong right after a firmware update.
- Check the app lists the right inverter model. An 18kPV has shown up as a 12kPV, with a PV string's data missing.
- With a GridBOSS, note whether it shows offline or is missing inverter, battery and PV data while the FlexBOSS page looks right.
- If the inverter's own screen is right but the app or web monitor stays wrong, report it to EG4 support. Support has found a model labeling error on its side and scheduled a remote reset to correct it.
