EG4 app shows only some of the batteries in the bank
The EG4 app or monitoring website shows fewer batteries than are installed, or leaves out the detail for some of them. This page covers what the lights and codes mean, what to check first, and the causes behind it.
What the lights mean
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| 280Ah WallMount display shows 100% with RUN blinking while still listed as charging | Seen on the 280Ah batteries in a WallMount bank with a 314Ah battery, before the communication chain between the batteries was fixed. |
| Yellow fault light on a 12000XP | No battery communication, even with the wiring correct. |
| Normal light flashing while a battery firmware update is pushed over the air | The update is in progress, not a fault. The inverter can take 5 to 10 minutes after the progress bar reads 100% to finish. |
| Fault light on the Battery Firmware Adapter | A firmware update from the adapter did not complete. |
| Success light on the Battery Firmware Adapter | The adapter reports the update completed. In one test the battery's displayed BMS version was unchanged afterwards. |
| All lights solid on a LifePower4 after a firmware update was interrupted | The update failed because power or the comm cable was lost during it. Running the automatic updater again recovered the battery. |
| Second green light blinking on a LifePower4 during the automatic updater | The updater is writing firmware. A normal update takes about 60 seconds and a recovery from a failed update about 2 minutes. |
Error codes that go with this problem
| Code | What it means |
|---|---|
| W000 or Warning 00 | Communication failure with the battery. The battery is not receiving CAN or RS485 data. |
| Bat com failure or battery communication error (18kPV) | The inverter can't communicate with the battery. |
| Error 20 together with Error 4 (LifePower4 batteries) | Error 20 is a communication problem between the LifePower4 battery and the inverter. Error 4 is battery low voltage. Both appear when the battery comm cable is unplugged. |
| Error 61 (6000EX and 6500EX-48) | The inverter has lost, or never set up, communication with the battery bank. |
What to check first
- Note what happened just before the batteries went missing: a battery firmware update, or a battery added to the bank.
- Open the battery section of the app and count how many batteries show online.
- Look at each battery's own charge level and details on the monitoring website or app. If every battery reports its own accurate figures, the batteries are communicating.
- Check that the communication cable from the battery to the inverter is fully plugged in.
- Read the serial number on the Wi-Fi dongle. EG4 staff said only dongles starting BJ, BG, BE or DJ show per-battery detail for LL-S, LifePower4 V2 and WallMount batteries, and some detail needs a premium monitoring account.
- If batteries are still missing, call EG4 tech support. With a WallMount bank that mixes 314Ah and 280Ah batteries, tell them how many of each you have; support got missing batteries online during the call.
