EG4 18kPV faults with Vbus Over Range
The 18kPV faults with Vbus Over Range, sometimes again and again, even with no PV connected. This page covers what the code means, what to check first, and the causes behind it.
Error codes that go with this problem
| Code | What it means |
|---|---|
| Vbus over range | EG4's manual says the DC bus voltage is too high and to make sure the PV string voltage is within specification. Owners have also had it with no PV connected at all. |
What to check first
- EG4's manual says that for this fault the PV string voltage must be within specification. Ask your installer to confirm it is.
- Note what was running when the fault came, and whether the PV was connected or switched off at the time.
- Note whether it stays online about a minute, faults, comes back for 5 or 10 seconds and trips off again.
- Try loads one at a time and note any that bring the fault back each time, even from a different outlet. Hair dryers, a digital coffee maker, a laser printer and a UPS have all set it off.
- Note whether lights flicker or GFCI breakers trip only on inverter power and never on grid power.
