Inverter output stops, display scrolls B0000

Symptoms

Early morning with the battery at 40 to 50% and no PV, the inverter stops output
The display scrolls 'B0000...' instead of 'ON' and cycling the power switch does not restore output
The manual lists 'there was a software update' as a reason the system restarted
The independent 12K review found no way to disable remote updates, see release notes, or be told an update happened
